Dry Needling Physical Therapy

Dry Needling is a common treatment at Rehab Guru Physical Therapy in Omaha.  If you have tight and painful muscles, then Dry Needling might be the answer for you.  Dry needling involves the insertion of a fine filament into a muscle and specifically into a myofascial trigger point. This technique helps bring amazing pain relief for common musculoskeletal injuries. The needle that is used is very thin and rarely causes any pain when it is inserted. We insert the needle into the “trigger points” facilitating a relaxation response to the muscle. The approach has very little pain with great results. Dry Needling provides pain relief without the use of medication. Typically it takes 4-6 sessions of dry needling to get good results, however, most people will know if Dry Needling is right for them after 1-2 treatments.  Watch our videos to see dry needling in action at our clinic:

We have four therapists specially trained in Dry Needling

Diana Schwahn is certified in dry needling through the Spinal Manipulation Institute and through Dr. Ma’s Integrative Dry Needling.  Valerie Downs, Jessica Metzger, and Gabriela Vogel have also taken extensive education in Dry Needling. An evaluation is recommended to determine if Dry Needling will be beneficial as well as to identify other muscle imbalances that might be influencing your current injury.  Call us today for your free consultation with one of our physical therapists with advanced training, skill, and expertise in Dry Needling.

What to expect after treatment

After receiving treatment, you can go on with your regular activities.  Some people will feel a little bit of muscle soreness but this usually resolves within 24 hours.  Most people will feel relaxed following treatment and see the benefits right away.  You should feel less muscle tightness and overall less muscle pain following treatment.

Dry needling has been proven to be an effective way of relaxing spasmed muscles, reducing inflammation, and relieving pain. It is an excellent way to treat myofascial pain syndromes and many other chronic conditions.  Schedule a Dry Needling session with Omaha’s best Physical Therapists at Rehab Guru!
